Get To Know You

by Panda Sanchez
Lyrics by Richard Sanchez and Tayne Kim, 2012

Took me to your room, dear, with the muses and pictures on your wall.
You left a clue on a scribbled note in a dusty bureau.

I want to know you, I want to get to know you.

We learn to waltz dear, by the grace of god as we hold each other up
We’ve gone so far now, past the icecream truck, beyond the autumn rust.

I’m cleaning up your windmills. I’m cleaning up your windmills, baby.

You’re so uptight. Believe me when you say you are. I’m a fool for you.
You’re so in love. Believe me when I say you are. (x2)

“Your effort to remain what you are is what limits you.” – Puppet Master

The Occam’s Razor Song (working title)

by Panda Sanchez
Lyrics by Tayne Kim, 2003/2012

Little thoughts they
Dance across the night to bleed me
Occam’s razor come

Your neon faith’s been saved from
All the fossil fumes we baked-on
The bridge between the hills of snow

Blows up our membranes slowly
Digesting all obstructions
Revives the waking corpse
She laughs and says to you

O, nomine patri i ire / i non timere
O, ego volabant, dea matrona

Red regrets fall
From a broken bathtub singing
Songs of my demise

Raspy cadillacs crawl
Down a dusty road and back from
Someone’s house in south Ocal

We’ll steal the liquorish factory sod
And taking dirty mouths for god’s
Feed our innocent delights
Lights we found before in a bar.

Run away my little girl, Baltimore may find you by the morning.

Mirages

This is the first song I wrote in 2011. Seems fitting for Valentine’s.

Mirage
by Panda Sanchez
Lyrics by Tayne Kim, 2011

I couldn’t figure out your code
Didn’t know which way to go
So I walked around inside these garden
Walls in-between us made of glass
And regrets we never had
Become evident when our eyes reopen

This is the afterlife we’re left with
Caught in the memory of these bars
All of our pretty affectations
Turn into monsters in the dark

Castles of clay, they’ve been abandoned
But you don’t know why, and you don’t know how
Hallways we used to build our dreams in
They’re empty now and you don’t know how.

Morning Commuter Song
By Panda Sanchez
Lyrics by Tayne Kim, 2011

Don’t mind the morning people, my darling
Different stations but they only wear one face
Staring blankly at the walls behind you like you’re nothing
Or lick their lips like you’ve been sitting on their dinner plate
I know it takes a lot of strength to bear it
It takes some more to take a breath before a bullet train

Hope your coat is warm enough
To sheild you from the wind and such
Your headphones won’t come off until you
Shake that worn kaleidoscopic binge

Now everyone is angry, dear, but fuck ’em
Bleeding red from their eyes instead of tears
Sympathy and her sisters are gone
Been dropped into a coffee cup earlier on in the morning
Get out of my morning commuter song

Bling is King

Clarity Jones Konig
by Panda Sanchez
Lyrics by Richard Sanchez, 2011

Give the monsters a name
Before you broach the closet
With your Daughter
In your arms

Be sure to cut off the rain
As though you turned the spigot
Or the faucet
In her brain

Behold the raging queen
That you left behind
Tear out your eyes
Tear out your mind
Blind to the love (3x)
Love in your lies

Behold the raging queen
That you left behind
Like a broken jewel
In a fractured crown

Follow the TV set
To your living room
As you draw the shades
And you close your eyes, Ohh
Is she still standing there?
Well I dunno
Is she no longer sad?
Well I dunno

As though her song played in the afterlife.
As though your heart beat in the very gums
Or the very drums in her mouth (repeat/outro)

No liner notes save this:  another few verses may come eventually. This one’s fun to play.

The Hellcat
by Panda Sanchez
Lyrics by Tayne Kim, 2011
Hey pretty mama I can hear when you are coming
It’s the sound of the thunder when you’re running down the mountain
Mmm, she’s a little hellcat to me.
All the boys in town figured out where she was drinking
And came in from the cold so they could all buy her a spirit
Ohh, and she didn’t turn down a one.
Several hours later she was still feeling sober
Everyone around if they hadn’t fallen over
We were all amazed.
(Bridge) With a smile like summer had the palor guards walking
In a slant from the corner she could see that I was watching
Eyes shooting laser beams to open up the morning
So I tipped my hat and turned away to keep from burning.
(2nd Bridge) Little Green men when they finally land here
With their evil plans to colonize us
Will be greeted by the fiery hellcat
Who’ll never compromise
She’ll burn them from the skys.
(Instrumental Chorus)
More verses probable.

On earthquakes (or the earthquake waltz)

This is the first in a series of Panda Sanchez lyrics to be posted in no particular order. Some (like this one) will include notes.

I wrote this on the day that two friends got married. According to Twitter, it was Saturday, October 8, 2011.  I remember it being a beautiful day for nuptials. The fall morning felt crisp, but my mood didn’t match. My melancholy + the recent VA earthquake still fresh on the brain = this tune.

The Earthquake Waltz
by Panda Sanchez
Lyrics by Tayne Kim, 2011

As the ground begins to shake
I know not any other way
Than to sway with all these moving pieces
Dodging debris sent down from Jesus Christ.

Sirens sail over the river Potomac
Call out to us in their soft muted voices
The aftershocks of those old melodies reach us
Turn all our fears into four-legged creatures again.
We’re running again.

(Chorus) We’ll go high, high, higher now. x2

Mothers hold children while grown men are crying
The mountains ain’t fall but God knows they’ve been trying
The fire and brimstone that we’ve all been promised
Are tectonic movements of a life behind us now.

Fractures on capstones atop lonely spires
Graves of the angels we never admired
Why are we moved only after they’re broken
Feel guilty for seeking a truth been unspoken so long.
It’s been too long.

Chorus
